My Biography

My name is Denis Charbonneau and I am 29 years old (Turning the big 3-0 this year!). I was born in El Centro, CA if you have never heard of the city its a big exporter of Beets! I grew up in Rialto and I have been living in Downtown Riverside for two years. I work as an Office Assistant/PR for Baldy View ROP which is a subsidiary of the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools. I have a wide variety of hobbies & interests; Landscape Photography, Cooking, Reading, Volunteering,  Traveling, Environmental Issues, Educating people about the environment.   

Ever since I was a child I have always been intrigued and fascinated about EARTH and the environment. I am taking this class because I love learning as much as I can about the environment and sustainability, knowledge really is power. I am majoring in Environmental Studies & Biology and I would  like to work for a non-profit that handles environmental issues. My passion is protecting the environment and  I am a proud member of:

My Ecological Footprint:

I am shocked at my ecological footprint! I thought it would be a lot less considering the amount of energy I put into trying to live more sustainably. If everyone lived like me, we would need 3.5 Planet Earths to provide enough resources. According to the pie chart "Services" account for the largest portion of my ecological footprint. 

Several steps I could take for me to lessen my ecological footprint include:

1. Reducing the amount of animal products I currently eat by half.
2. Purchase products made with 100% post-consumer recycled content material
3. Use Public Transportation one day more a week
4. Take a local vacation versus flying to a distant location
